Catherine is an art historian and writer. She completed her PhD thesis in 2015 on Rome, relics, Caravaggio and pilgrimage. Her academic research focused on the body and also images that bring into question the ground and its material status as earth, soil or rock.
Catherine worked for many years as a lecturer in Italy where she lived la dolce vita for some time, before moving to Paris. Alongside her work for Artscapes UK, Catherine regularly lectures for the Dulwich Picture Gallery, V&A, and Sotheby’s Institute among others. She is also a Teacher Fellow in the Art History department of UCL University. She has written numerous arts and culture reviews and is the author of the Hg2 publication ‘A Hedonist’s Guide to Rome’.
