To develop a complete mind: Study the science of art; study the art of science. Learn how to see. Realize that everything connects to everything else.
– Leonardo da Vinci
For the New Year of 2021, we continue to develop the Artscapes UK Winter Festival’s theme of hope. We are delighted to introduce a five-part series which investigates our incredible aptitude for change, and opens our eyes to how disruption – however much we tend to resist it – offers opportunity for creative problem solving and new ideas.
The series looks at art via the lens of neuroscience to offer a fresh and playful take on some of the most treasured artworks of Western painting – including works by Leonardo, Caravaggio, Klimt, Munch, and Van Gogh. By providing insightful and surprising explorations into some of our most treasured and beloved art works we will show you what’s happening to our brains now, during this time of great uncertainty and flux.
Join art historian Annabel Howard and neuroscientist Dr Helena Boschi as they offer an innovative exploration of what the art of the past teaches us about our thoughts, lives, and dreams in the rapidly evolving twenty-first century, and offer stories and strategies to help cope with change.
Starting on Sunday 10 January and finishing on Sunday 7 February (all talks at 4pm GMT). All talks will be hosted on Zoom Webinar.
This series is available to buy as a beautifully presented, exciting Christmas Gift voucher.
